How old were you when you bought your first Metal album?
12

What was it?
Iron Maiden - "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son"

What was the last album you bought?
I managed to buy loads of shit on tour (and I mean shit), but here’s a run down of the best of it! - Madonna - ‘Ray of Light’, definitely my album of the year; Black Sabbath - um, practically every one they’ve ever done from 1970-94; Das Ich - Egodram; Helloween - ‘Better Than Raw’; Metallica - ‘Garage Days II’, a collection of demos, B-sides and garage demos from 1982 (with Dave Mustaine!), plus loads of Sabbath remasters, though I can’t find ‘Tyr’ anywhere. And the new Anathema album (Alt.4) is out of this world

Most embarrassing record in your collection?
Jason Donovan - "Too Many Broken Hearts" 7" or Cliff Richard "Mistletoe and Wine" (don’t you just love well meaning relatives - Steve likes music….etc.)

Who were your first musical heroes?
Hetfield, Mustaine, Seb Bach (!), Smith & Murray, Axl Pose. Shit! D’you know, I nearly forgot Ozzy! (Sorry, God!)

Any previous bands?
Only Estranged ever gigged, oh, a pop/punk covers band I was in for a laugh (Stove). Also Wrath, Armageddon, Blitzkrieg and Reprisal (someone has to be in dodgy thrash bands!) and Dream Corrosion, Mortal Tide and Metal Storm with Lee.

Any less obvious bands you’d recommend checking out?
The Nefilim, Babylon Whores, Skyclad, Amber Asylum, Arcana, Elend, Dio, Rainbow, Non Ozzy-era Sabbath and Walkyier era Sabbat plus bands listed under ‘unexpected’, A Canorous Quintet. Front Line Assembly kick my arse too.

Favourite films?
Titanic, Heavenly Creatures, Jude, (um, spot the Kate Winslet link…), Twelve Monkeys, Krull, Clash Of The Titans, Usual Suspects, Star Wars x3. Of recent films, LA Confidential and Starship Troopers, definitely.

Favourite cartoon character?
Taz (he wears leather n’ screams; very metal) and Marvin the Martian (just damn funny!)

Hobbies/Interests outside of the band?
Playing and watching football, sports, buying dodgy albums (not the band!), drinking, reading all sorts and writing all sorts

At what age did you lose your virginity?
19

Strangest place you’ve had sex?
I don’t do things like that!!! That’s what beds are for!

Name your top 5 birds?
1) Kate Winslet
2) Rhona Mitra (bird Tomb Raider is modelled on...)
3) Louise
4) Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Friend...)
5) Alicia Silverstone
6) Just birds generally.... they’re great!

Anything extra to add?
Just enjoy yourselves - stay metal. Avoid being into trends for trends sakes, but if you like a band, don’t be afraid to admit it. Hail and Kill Brothers and Sisters of metal!

……Steve……… on……Steve………..
This last six month roller coaster has made me realise a few things, and I’m trying not to take shit for granted anymore. I (used to?) have a problem with doing that. I guess I don’t know when I’m onto a good thing! I’m the most ‘public’ face in Entwined - I’m the one who puts his mug about, meeting people, so that fits my out going personality (hell, no one can get me to shut the fuck up). This web site is my brain child (though with a MAJOR hand from Stuff - cheers mate), so all the comments here are insights into me. Hope you like it! I just love this shit so much, I can’t imagine not doing it. If something was to happen, it’d break my heart. I know it sounds like a cliché, but this metal thing is what I’ve always wanted to do, and I wanna be like Ozzy - doing this when I’m 50, and still with the full respect of the metal world. Yeah, I’m a dreamer, but you gotta have that image to cling to…

……Steve………on……Simon………
I’ve known Si longer than anyone else in the band, and probably hang out with him more than anyone else. He’s a good mate, and we’re pretty much on the same level. Trustworthy, and reliable - likes a beer with the best of us too! Certainly adds a manic energy to the live performance.
